I have used a ton of flat irons in my time. And I have actually purchased some pretty expensive hair tools from brands like Paul Mitchell and Rusk. These Chi Tech flat iron puts all of my former hair tools to shame.

I mentioned that I can get a variety of styles when I use the Chi Tech Straightener. I love that it’s so versatile and easy to use. Here is how I use this Chi Hair Tool.

How to Use the Chi Tech Flat Iron to Create Beachy Waves

When I use the Chi Tech flat iron to create beachy waves, I simply start about 3-4 inches away from my scalp. I put my hair in the flat iron side ways and twist it, pulling in a downward motion quickly. I use about 1 inch sections on my hair.

I brush the curls out with my fingers while they are still warm.

How to Use the Chi Tech Flat Iron to Curl Your Hair

You can use the Chi Tech flat iron to curl your hair too! I do this by sectioning off my hair. Then I separate a one inch section. I put the flat iron in my hair horizontally and wrap my hair around the barrel. Then, I pull downward.

You can comb your hair out while it’s still hot, or let it cool first. You can play around with your technique on combing out your hair and experiment with using your fingers, a comb or a brush. Different hair tools will give you different looks.

For tighter curls, you will want to spray your hair and not comb them out.

How to use the Chi Tech Flat Iron To Straighten your Hair

I use the Chi tech flat iron to straighten my hair almost daily. And I use different techniques depending on the look I am going for.

One of the techniques I use is to place my hand under my hair toward the top of my head as I pull the iron downward. When I gently pull the iron inward, it gives me a soft bounce at the bottom of my hair.

I use the Chi Tech Straightener to create more volume by pulling the hair up and out. I start at the top of my head and pull the hair up. That gives me more volume at the root.

The best part of the Chi Lava Spin and Curl Hair Curler is that it’s so easy to use.When you turn it on, you can adjust the temperature of the device depending on your hair needs and what kind of look you are trying to create.

There is working on the device that tells you which side to put toward your head. Once the Chi Hair Curler has heated up completely, you will place the one side of the device toward your head and drape your hair over the top of the hair tool.

Then you push one of the two arrows depending on which direction you want to curl your hair. Your hair will be sucked into the machine.

Don’t worry! There is an automatic shut off that releases your hair and beeps if there is any chance of your hair being stuck.

You will hold the button until the machine stops curling your hair. Wait patiently for the beep and pull the hair curler downward. What you get is a bouncy curl.

Can You Use the Chi Lava Curler to Create Loose Waves

I actually came up with a couple of different techniques to use the Chi Lava Curler to create loose waves for more of a trendy beach hair look.

First, you can adjust the temperature of the unit. A lower temperature will give you a more loose curl.

Second, you can release your curl before you hear the beep. So, basically, you are just leaving your hair in the device for less time than recommended.

Comb out your hair thoroughly either while your curls are still hot or cool.

How to Use the Chi Lava Spin and Curl to Create a Messy Look

You can use the Chi Lava Hair Curler to create a messy curly haired look too. I achieve this look by using both of the arrow buttons that control which direction to curl my hair.

Every time I create a curl, I alternate the direction of the curl by alternating which arrow I push when I curl the hair. This creates a messier style.
