A Tangled Mess? Or…was it?
Ok, so admittedly, the first time I ever used this product, I was literally shaking in my makeup chair. The idea of sticking my hair into something that was going to suck it into a curl……
Come on! Don’t tell me you’re not thinking it!
I was scared to death my hair would get tangled! Much to my delight, the Avon Chi Spin and Curl actually comes with a safeguard against tangles. If you accidentally try to feed too much hair into it, it will release your hair.
If there is even the slightest chance your hair will tangle, an alarm will go off and beep and your hair will be released.
Phew! That’s a relief!
Spin….and Curl? Is it really that easy? How to Use the Chi Lava Curler
So when I took the Avon Chi Volcanic Lava spin and curl out of the box and had a look, the tool looked complicated. I said it once and I’ll say it again. I am by NO MEANS a hairstylist. My hair is usually done one of two ways.
In a ponytail. Or not in a ponytail.
So I put it to the test. The spin and curl actually was super easy to use. It has instructions on the tool to let you know which side goes closest to your head.
You can do curls that face in either direction by pushing the arrow with the coordinating direction.
Once you have it set, you push the button and wait for the beep.
Poof – Perfect Curls!
I played with the temperature setting and my placement on the tool to create different looks. I was able to create a different look depending on where I placed the Chi Spin and Curl by Avon on my head. I also was able to control the tightness of the curl by lowering the heat setting. Super simple!
What Chi Products to Use with the Chi Curling Tool
Since, as Farouk says, ” A good style starts with clean healthy hair,” I started off with a good shampoo and conditioner. I actually alternate my shampoo and conditioner depending on my hair’s needs.
On days it needs a little replenishment, I use the Chi Essentials Replenishing Shampoo and the Chi Essentials Moisturizing Conditioner.
On days, I’m looking for a little more volume, I use the Elastine Propoli Thera Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner.
After I towel dry my hair, I use the Chi Essentials Repairing Serum. This has got to be my all-time favorite hair product. Not only does it help strengthen and repair my hair, this repairing serum helps to prolong the length of time I can go in between washes.
But sometimes, if I’m looking for a tried and true hair treatment, I use the BioSilk Silk Therapy leave-in treatment. IT replenishes and reconstructs my hair and I love that it tames frizz and flyaways, leaving my hair silky smooth.
Then, I follow with the Chi Essentials Thermal Protecting Spray. Even though the technology in the Avon Chi Hair Curling tool protects against heat damage with it’s advanced Chi Ceramic technology, I still need use the thermal protecting spray.
The Chi Thermal Protecting Spray actually not only protects my hair against damage caused by styling, but it also has volumizing properties and even helps hold the style in place.
